Representatives of Ghandi civil society, human rights groups and faith communities met in Amsterdam for a floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, bringing together the Gandhi Global Family and the Church of Scientology Netherlands around peace, non-violence and human dignity.
The gathering, held at Amsterdam’s Gandhi statue, the event included Ram Mohan Rai, General Secretary of Gandhi Global Family, Scientology representatives and human rights advocates. The meeting opened conversations about future cooperation in human rights education and youth engagement.
The Church of Scientology’s support for human rights education is connected with the principles expressed by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, who encouraged Scientologists to support initiatives advancing fundamental human rights.
Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s representative to the EU, OSCE, Council of Europe and UN, linked the gathering to European principles of human dignity and freedom of conscience, stressing that knowledge of human rights can strengthen peaceful and democratic societies.
